CTR Group is seeking FIREWATCH / TANK WATCH Personnel with Active DoD Clearance for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, VA. Transitioning or former military and current Reservists are also encouraged to apply for these cleared positions. Seeking local personnel.

Starts June 15th, 2026

Pay Rate $27.75 per Hour plus Benefits

Available Shifts: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts

SUMMARY:

The Fire Watch / Tank Watch roles are safety-critical positions focused on:

  • Fire prevention
  • Confined space monitoring
  • Worker safety & accountability
  • Supporting overall shipyard operations

DUTIES:

Fire Watch (FW):

  • Monitor hot work areas to prevent fires and respond immediately if one occurs
  • Maintain constant surveillance during and after hot work (minimum 30 minutes post-work)
  • Carry and maintain fire extinguisher and required identification
  • Assist with housekeeping and spotter duties when not actively engaged in fire watch
  • Coordinate with supervisors and ensure site safety at all times

Tank Watch (TW):

  • Monitor personnel working in confined or poorly ventilated spaces
  • Maintain continuous accountability and communication with entrants
  • Ensure all safety certifications and permits are valid before entry
  • Keep accurate logs and prevent unauthorized access
  • Never leave post while personnel are inside the space
  • Additional Expectations
  • Perform general housekeeping (debris removal, site cleanup)
  • Act as spotters to manage pedestrian and vehicle safety
  • Follow all Shipyard, OSHA, and safety protocols
