Glacier Fish Company is seeking a motivated self-starter to work as Housekeeper in a mentally and physically resilient work environment on a factory production vessel on board the F/T Alaska Ocean that operates both in Alaska’s Bering Sea and off the coast of Washington and Oregon.
We are seeking individuals for permanent, full-time positions who are open to working a rotating schedule year-round.
Individuals with recent experience in a high-volume housekeeping and laundry environments such as cruise ships or experience on a commercial fishing vessel are preferred.

Requirements

  • Able to communicate effectively in English
  • Strong attention to detail and able to maintain a schedule
  • Repetitive, fast paced accuracy and movements
  • Physical lifting up to 50 lbs and able to lift/carry 25 lbs repetitively
  • Standing 12 hrs/day for 7 days/week
  • Work in small spaces in close proximity of other crew
  • Self-motivated team-player
  • Must be able to provide 2 recent positive references from previous employers
  • All candidates subject to a post offer pre-employment drug test, medical and background screen

Duties

  • Stateroom and bathroom cleaning as scheduled to include bathtub/shower, toilet, sink, mirrors, floors, vents and counter, dust counters, TV, book shelves and lights, empty garbage and vacuum floors.
  • Responsible for cleaning common areas to include all Public Restrooms and changing room.
  • Cleans lounge and crew common areas as scheduled.
  • All floors vacuumed daily, mopped as needed, stripped & waxed as scheduled.
  • Cleans walls, ceiling, hand rails and lights as scheduled.
  • Maintains and organizes cleaning storage area and linen closets.
  • Changes and launders sheets according to schedule as instructed.
  • Clean and folds crew clothing and packs laundry bag neatly and drops off clean laundry to appropriate rooms.
  • Operates laundry equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Follows manufacturer instructions in use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Adheres to company policies when utilizing cleaning chemicals.

Life on board

  • Limited privacy; rooms are shared 2-4 bunks per room
  • Each fishing trips averages 12-24 days depending on fishing conditions
  • All meals and laundry are provided at no cost
  • Expect limited communication - cell phones will not work at sea
  • Satellite Wi-Fi provided - integrated Starlink is a high-speed, low-latency broadband internet able to adapt to remote locations

Crew are paid a crew share which can range between $3200 - $3500 each full trip worked. Trip lengths can vary between 12 - 24 days on average depending on fishing conditions. There are a scheduled number of trips the vessel will fish each season based on quota. Shipyard work is required as scheduled while the vessel is in port between the fishing seasons.
